Head Teacher's Welcome

Welcome to Sennen School

'Leap into a pool of learning'  'The first school in the Land’

Welcome to our popular and successful village school overlooking picturesque Sennen Cove in the far west of Cornwall, and situated only a short distance from Land’s End.

At Sennen School we aim to provide an education that will equip our pupils for a lifetime of learning. As well as highly valuing academic achievement, we passionately believe in developing the core learning skills of resilience, reflectiveness, resourcefulness and teamwork. These virtues are instilled and reinforced in all aspects of school life as our children thrive in a supportive community environment. We strongly value children's individuality and encourage them to pursue their interests; celebrating their achievements in both school and through extra-curricular activities. With learning behind every door and fun around every corner children can immerse themselves in a pool of learning at Sennen.

At Sennen School we believe that all children are unique individuals with a right to a safe and happy learning environment, in which both safeguarding and children's wellbeing are a shared priority. An inclusive environment which offers acceptance and respect for everyone, ensures equal opportunities regardless of social background, culture, race, gender or ability and which embraces both British values and diversity.

Ofsted praised our ‘good’ school, and its achievements, in October 2013, stating that : “Sennen is a popular, effective school that lies at the heart of its community” …the “pupils’ love of school is seen in their swift mention of many friendships with other pupils and warm encouraging relationships with adults. Pupils say ‘this is a small and friendly school with nice teachers and happy people.’”

Our aim is to provide not only a creative and stimulating curriculum, but also a broad and challenging curriculum, to ensure that all our pupils receive the widest educational opportunities of the highest quality. To this end, our dedicated team of staff succeed in bringing learning ‘truly alive’ through their use of the stunning local landscape, and the rich cultural heritage, which surrounds us.

Come and see us!

We welcome visits to the school, and we look forward to meeting you.
